Description
Genuine VW takeoff .75 ratio TDI 5th gear (.74-.76). A solid upgrade for “gassers.” Typical drop over a stock is approximately 400 rpm. This is our most popular upgrade for 1.8T/VR6 & 2.0 customers and is usually the best available option for those driving an average 65-70 MPH while commuting.
It is recommended that the gear oil and transmission seal be changed when a 5th gear is replaced.

Note on Installation: Be sure to heat the gear to 100ºC when both removing as well as re-installing the gear or you risk damaging it. It is a good idea to use blue Loctite® on the small gear pinion shaft.
Note for BEW Engine Code: Vehicles with a BEW engine code will lose Cruise Control functionality unless this modification is also paired with a tune that accounts for it.
